Papers to the IMO giving input to the development of a Carbon Intensity indicator (CII) for MEPC - 76 and ISWG - GHG 8

WSC, together with co-sponsors, has submitted a number of papers giving input to the development of a Carbon Intensity indicator (CII), a new measure based on an operational approach that supports the IMO's objective of reducing the carbon intensity of international shipping by 40% by 2030, compared to 2008 levels. The following papers have been submitted:

  • ISWG-GHG 8-3-2 Proposal concerning CII reference line for vehicle carriers;

  • MEPC 76-7-29 Refrigerated Container Cargoes (co-sponsored by ICS);

  • MEPC 76-7-33 CII Reduction Factors;

  • MEPC 76-7-25 Comments on document MEPC 76/7/5 concerning Adverse Weather conditions (co-sponsored by Russia, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, ICS, IPTA, and INTERTANKO); and

  • MEPC 76-7-30 Proposal for Fleet-Level Monitoring (co-sponsored by CLIA).
