The international supply chain carries more than 250 million containers across oceans and borders each year. How can we make sure that these vast amounts of trade are safe, free from illicit cargoes and protected from criminal abuse?

Liner shipping is committed to working in a united front with governments, customs and law enforcement, as well as with shippers, intermediaries and ports to help fight drug trafficking in global supply chains. This session brought together the parties involved to highlight existing efforts and explore new ways to make maritime trade safer, protecting crews, supply chain workers and their communities.

The liner sector is investing heavily in vessels that can run on renewable fuels. But these investments will only deliver for the climate if fuels that are truly green from well to wake are widely available. In this session we brought together representatives from some of the key decision makers to explore the way forward, and the role of Europe in this global transition:

How much green electricity will actually be needed to produce renewable fuels for the maritime industry as it transitions away from carbon-based fuels?
What factors will determine if enough green electricity is available in Europe to produce renewable marine fuels?
What is the opportunity for the European energy market?
What is the role of regulation and how can existing and coming EU and global regulation contribute to ensuring green electricity and green fuel production?
